*** DON'T MISS THIS! Jack Straw Exhibit: CARTASONIC, an Installation by Perri Lynch, Lara Swimmer, and Robert Zimmer, April 6-June 8
2010 Fellows Perri Lynch, Lara Swimmer, and Robert Zimmer have combined forces to create what promises to be a magnificent installation based on their shared Fellowship experiences at the Civita Institute. CARTASONIC, running April 6 through June 8, 2012, combines field recording, projection, and montage to convey the layered architectural history of Civita di Bagnoregio, a remote Italian hill town. Through "built" images and field recordings, this work maps the evolution of a town and its steadfast presence in a shifting landscape. Click here to view the announcement
*** Announcing our 2012 NIAUSI/UW Rome Center Alumni Fellow - Isabel Sitcov NIAUSI is delighted to announce the second Fellowship award to a student alumnus of the University of Washington Rome Center programs. Isabel Sitcov is a UW student who will be researching native plants and herbs in the Civita region and studying ways these plants can be promoted and managed in public and semi-public spaces to foster an enhanced community connection to the natural environment surrounding Civita and neighboring towns. NIAUSI will also be able to connect Isabel with our friends and colleagues in the region who are involved in related research and educational programs, including the Museo Naturalistico in Lubriano. Isabel studied with Professor Ann Anagnost and her "Culture and Politics of Food in Italy" program in 2011 and was one of that group of 17 students (plus Professor Anagnost) hosted by NIAUSI at our facilties in Italy. Congratulations Isabel! Click here to read about our other newly chosen 2012 Fellows!
